DECATUR, Illinois - The Marian College women's golf team set records over the weekend at the Millikin University Fall Classic in Decatur, Illinois. The Knights set a new 18-hole scoring record and a 36-hole scoring record after carding a two-day total of 662 (341-321).
The Knights shattered the 36-hole record of 672, which was set in 2007. They also destroyed the 18-hole record of 329 with a 321 on the second day of competition.
Junior Angela Gauck (Greensburg, Indiana/Greensburg) shot a 157 (87-70) to pick up a fifth-place finish. She also set a new school record for an individual 18-hole score with a two-under-par 70 on Sunday. She broke her own record set in October 2007.
Junior Kristen Welker (Kokomo, Indiana/Western) carded a two-day total of 166 (80-86) for a 21st-place finish while junior Ashley Reed (North Vernon, Indiana/Jennings County) shot a 169 (89-80) which was good enough for a tie for 23rd place.
Junior Krista Moore (Camby, Indiana/Decatur Central) shot a 170 (84-86) which was good enough for a tie for 27th while sophomore Lauren Nickoson (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor HS) shot a 176 (91-85) for a tie for 41st place. Sophomore Alyssa Simpson (Crawfordsville, Indiana/North Putnam) carded a 177 (85-92) for a tie for 46th place.
The Knights head to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Trevecca Nazarene Fall Invitational at Ravenwood Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
