AVON, Indiana - The Marian College women's golf team opened its 2008 spring campaign with an eighth-place finish at the Butler Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
The Knights shot a 708 (357-351) and had to endure two cold, windy days at Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Indiana.
Sophomore Angela Gauck (Greensburg, Indiana/North Decatur) led the Knights after she finished in a tie for 13th place. Gauck shot a 166 (86-80) to pace the Knights.
Freshman Lauren Nickoson (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) earned a tie for 31st place with a 177 (88-89) while sophomore Karli Shepherd (Carmel, Indiana/Carmel) finished in a tie for 34th place with a 179 (90-89).
Kristen Welker shot a 186 (93-93) to finish in 47th while Krista Moore shot a 199 (102-97) to finish in 54th place.
The Knights head to Carrollton, Kentucky on Saturday and Sunday for the Northern Kentucky Invitational.
