Pair of Knights honored by NAIA - 5/27/2009

INDIANAPOLIS - Two Marian College women's golfers were named Daktronics NAIA All-America Scholar Athletes, and the duo are the first Knights to pick up the honor in the program's five-year existence.

Junior Ashley Reed (North Vernon, Indiana/Jennings County) earned her first career honor and had a solid year for the Knights. She shot a season-best 86 at the USF Cougar Invitational on her way to a season-best 13th-place finish.

Junior Angela Gauck (Greensburg, Indiana/North Decatur) was also named a Scholar Athlete after another outstanding campaign. She picked up her third straight top 10 finish at the NAIA National Tournament, and she was named an NAIA All-American for her finish in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The award is bestowed upon student-athletes who have achieved junior standing and maintain a 3.500 cumulative grade point average or better.
