Two Knights to play in NAIA Senior Classic - 3/27/2009

INDIANAPOLIS - Two Marian College football players were selected to participate in the third annual College Fanz/Victory Sports Network NAIA Senior Classic as announced on Tuesday.

Senior placekicker and punter Bryan Quackenbush (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) and senior offensive lineman Randy Knipfel (Crystal Lake, Illinois/Prairie Ridge) were named to the Americans roster and will take part in the event.

Quackenbush was named Mid-States Football Association All-Academic after a stellar season in leading the Knights to their first-ever winning season. He led the team in scoring with 52 points after he converted 34-of-35 point-after-touchdowns and was 6-for-9 in field goals. His long of 49 yards was a career-long field goal.

He also was the team's punter and carried a 40.2 yards per punt average and had 10 punts end up inside the 20-yard line.

Knipfel is a two-time Mid-States Football Association All-Mideast League honorable mention selection that led the Knights on the offensive front from the center position. Knipfel served as a team captain and was the anchor of an offensive line that showed extreme improvement over the program's first two seasons.

The College Fanz/Victory Sports Network Senior Classic will pit 120 former NAIA football players against one another in a showcase of talent and character. Players range from 50 different NAIA schools from states across the country and the players are described as an extremely talented group of players.

The game will take place on Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m. (CST), in Platte County R3 High School's Pirate Stadium in Platte City, Missouri.

The game is scheduled for the same day as the Marian College Blue/Gold Spring Game. The game is scheduled for April 25 at 7 p.m., on the playing surface at St.Vincent Health Field right here on the campus of Marian College.
