
INDIANAPOLIS – Marian College head football coach Ted Karras, Jr., is proud to announce the commitment of 28 student-athletes to play football at Marian College. This group of student-athletes joins the 13 transfers who have already enrolled at Marian College bringing the class total to 41.
The 2009 class includes eight state players from state championship-winning teams. Five players committed to Marian College are from IHSAA Class 5A state champion Center Grove High School, one player is from IHSAA Class 4A state champion Cathedral High School, and two players are from IHSAA Class 3A state champion Bellmont High School.
The class includes offensive lineman Colin Ferguson from IHSAA Class 5A No. 10-ranked Lawrence Central High School, defensive back Andre Jackson from Elkhart Central, defensive lineman Steve Seculoff from IHSAA Class 4A No. 3-ranked Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, and standout linebacker Ollie Ware, who led the Cathedral High School Irish to the Class 4A state championship.
The Knights finished the 2008 campaign with a 7-4 record in just their second year of competition in the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League. The Knights upset then No. 25-ranked McKendree University, 28-21, on the road to pick up their first-ever win over a ranked opponent.
The Knights will open the 2009 campaign on the road on August 27 when they head to the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) in Joliet, Illinois. Kickoff has been set for 6 p.m.
