Four Knights named All-Academic - 1/29/2009

 
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian College football program has not only made its mark on the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League, but now has academic accolades to show the Knights are excelling both in the classroom and on the gridiron.
 
Four Knights were named to the MSFA All-Academic team which was announced last week.
 
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver/kick returner John Pfifer (Greenwood, Indiana/Greenwood) is a business management major and was named the team's Academic Knight award winner this season.
 
Senior kicker/punter Bryan Quackenbush (Indianapolis/Perry Meridian) was also named All-Academic. Bryan is a sport management major who led the team in total points with 52. He had six field goals and 34 extra points in 2008.
 
Sophomore transfer wide receiver Zach Goodbar (Indianapolis/Decatur Central) was named All-Academic for his performance as a business management major. Zach averaged 16.1 yards per reception on 18 catches. He also had two touchdowns in 2008.
 
Senior Billy Cobb (Indianapolis/Roncalli) was also named All-Academic for his performance as a biology major. Cobb finished 2008 with 61 tackles (36 solo, 25 assists) and three sacks. He also had three tackles-for-loss in 2008.
 
The Knights finished their second season of competition with a 7-4 record and a 2-4 mark in the ultra-competitive Mid-States Football Association Mideast League.
