INDIANAPOLIS - Marian College head football coach Ted Karras, Jr., is proud to announce the commitments of 13 transfers for the spring of 2009.
"We are excited to have these young men attending Marian College this spring," said Karras. "We feel some of them will be able to contribute immediately and help take our program to the next level."
The Knights are coming off a successful second season after they finished 7-4 in 2008 after a 1-9 inaugural season in 2007. The team earned a victory over then No. 25-ranked McKendree University on the road, 28-21, on September 13 and the team's first-ever come-from-behind win at Valparaiso, 13-10, on September 20.
The Knights also earned their first- and second-ever overtime victories when they defeated Walsh University, 34-31, and Urbana University, 35-28, in a single overtime.
The team also had 16 players honored by the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League as All-League selections with sophomore William Stubbs (Indianapolis/Cathedral) leading the way with his second straight All-MSFA second team selection.
The Knights open the 2009 campaign on Thursday, August 27, when they travel to Joliet, Illinois, to battle the University of Saint Francis (Ill.).
