What to Expect on Nursing Focus Day

Overview

Attending Nursing Focus day shows your commitment to enroll at Marian University as a pre-nursing student. During this session you will learn more about the nursing program, requirements, register for courses, become acquainted with the campus, and get your questions answered.

Check-In

When you check in you will receive your appointment time for advising and also an appointment to meet one-on-one with a financial aid counselor. This will be determined by the order you arrive to Nursing Focus Day.

Table Talk

During the table talk you will meet in a small group of other new transfer and first time adult students with one academic advisor. The advisor will review the requirements for nursing and curriculum. The academic advisor will also review basic information about registration to help you prepare for your individualized advising session that will occur later in the day.

Individual Advising

During your individual advising session an academic advisor who works specifically with nursing students will review your transfer credits and explain how they translate to courses at Marian University. The advisor will work to understand your obligations outside of the classroom and help explain how that might impact your available time in class. This will dictate the personal plan for you to achieve maximum success in your coursework.

Getting to know Marian University

During the course of the day, you will complete parking registration, receive your Marian University student ID, and get to know the campus community. Optional tours are offered throughout the program, providing you the opportunity to visit the nursing resource center, peruse the bookstore, and familiarize yourself with campus.
