Dennis J Dunlap, MBA, SPHR
Dennis has over 33 years experience in Business and Human Resources. He was the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, for a fortune 500 financial services organization. He played a significant role by leading the HR function on 14 acquisitions and coaching senior leaders on change management, organization culture, and leadership issues.
Dunlap currently works as a human resources consultant with a number of local and county governments and small businesses. Dunlap has developed and revised employee handbooks for several organizations and serves as the part time Human Resources Director for Boone, Clinton, and Scott Counties. Dunlap is a Career Management Coach with Right Management, coaching senior leaders and professionals on identifying strengths, developing business strategies, and coaching team members.
He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and holds the designation of SPHR. Dunlap has presented programs on developing employee handbooks and conducting investigations involving harassment for the Association of Indiana Counties and IMPACT. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University and an MBA degree from Butler University.
Dunlap has served as a MAP faculty member since 2002. He currently teaches the Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior courses. His approach is to involve the students in the learning process by striving to make the course work challenging and meaningful. A critical focus for Dunlap is to understand what the student wants to take away from the class. He also focuses on bringing his vast experience to the classroom and integrating it with the theories presented in the text.
