Marian University

Greetings from the School of Nursing

What will we do at SOAR?

  • Our first meeting will be at SOAR.
  • We will help you to understand what it means to be a pre-nursing and nursing student.
  • We will provide you with the knowledge you need to make appropriate choices to reach your goals.
  • We can also help you identify resources on campus that can provide you with the support you need.

It’s important to ask yourself some challenging questions:

  • Do I really love science classes and am I able to earn A’s and B’s in these courses?
  • Did I take hard science courses in high school:  Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and do I feel that I understand those topics well enough to build on them?

What if I want to change my major from nursing?

  • If you think that another major may be a better fit, you can select another major when you register for SOAR.

What should I know about SOAR?

  • We will look at your high school coursework, grades, and performance on standardized tests to help suggest the appropriate classes for you to take during your first semester.
  • We want to provide you with the best service at SOAR.

When should I come to SOAR?

  • We would suggest that you attend a SOAR session that is not filled to capacity for nursing so that you can have the best advising and orientation experience possible.
  • If the day you have registered is full we would highly recommend that you consider attending a different session.

We are excited about working with you. If you have questions please feel free to contact us via e-mail.
