Admission Requirements

Admission to Marian University.

Previous baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 2.80/4.00.

Admission GPA of 2.80/4.00 or greater is based on the following courses: BIO 223 Anatomy and Physiology I; BIO 224 Anatomy and Physiology II; BIO 114 Microbiology; CHE 100 Elements of Gen/Bio Chemistry, and *NUR 125 Professional Role Socialization I. A grade of C+ or better is required for successful completion, and must be obtained on the first attempt. (See Marian University Course Catalog – “Grading System” for numerical value of letter grades. The numerical value of the grade is multiplied by the number of credit hours per course to determine the admission GPA). Students who have successfully completed or transferred the required prerequisite courses must make formal written application for admission to the program through the academic advisor by December 11 for spring admission. Marian University will take reasonable steps to ensure a clinical spot for all qualified students. Students are notified in writing regarding admission decisions. Admission to clinical nursing courses is competitive based on the clinical admission decision tree.
Prerequisite General Education Requirements
The student must complete the general education requirements for the Bachelor Degree as stated in the Marian University Course Catalog. All BSN students are required to include PSY 205/BUS 205 Statistical Methods and ECN 200/201/202 Economics, PSY 220 Human Growth and Development, NUR 238 Human Nutrition, PSY 230 Abnormal Psychology, as part of the general education requirements. These courses must be completed prior to admission to the program with exception of eight credit hours in cultural awareness and three credit hours of upper level theology; which may be completed during the senior year. NUR 125 is required as a prerequisite to admission to the program.

+ The Indiana State Board of Nursing requires that candidates for the registered nurse licensing examination shall have successfully completed the educational program with an accumulative average grade of “C” or better and a grade of “C” or better in each course. Applicants must clear (repeat) a grade of C- or less in required courses prior to admission to the clinical track.
