Background
After graduation, Carl earned his doctorate in organic chemistry from Purdue University. He joined the Marian University faculty in 2003 and launched the green chemistry program, a multifaceted program interlinking undergraduate student research with the first comprehensive green chemistry laboratory curriculum in the state.

He regularly presents at workshops and seminars across the country, and he leads an initiative to provide high school teachers with the knowledge, skills, and resources to incorporate green chemistry into their own classrooms.
