Being an RA can provide you with skills in leadership, conflict resolution and mediation, time management, and creativity.

How to Apply

  • The RA (Resident Assistant) application opened on October 31, 2023 and will close at 5pm on January 31, 2024. Visit CORE to apply. Upload your resume which must be reviewed by staff at The Exchange. Please allow at least two business days for your resume to be reviewed. Additional changes may be required by the Exchange before you can apply for this job posting.
  • Applicants must complete or submit all pieces of the application to be considered for an interview.  Application details can be found below and on CORE.

Each applicant must attend 1 of the following RA Information Sessions.  All sessions will begin at 7pm, run for no more than an hour, and are located in Norman Center 111.

  • November 9 (Thursday)
  • November 20 (Monday)
  • December 5 (Tuesday)
  • December 12 (Tuesday)
  • January 18 (Thursday)
  • January 29 (Monday)

RA Applicants

  • Please attach your resume and answers to the essay questions in the CORE application. Essay questions can be found here.
  • You will be required to send a reference link to two references and have two submissions on your behalf.  The survey link can be found inside the CORE posting.  Details:
    • One reference must be a current or recent Residential and Commuter Life staff member (within the past 2 years). 

    • The second reference can be from anyone who can speak to your skills related to the RA position – such as time management and relationship building. This reference cannot be a student or family member. 

  • Students who have previously been a resident assistant for Marian University must also submit an application on CORE to return to the position for the 2024-25 academic year. Returning resident assistant essay questions can be found here. *Note that there are separate CORE postings for new and returner applicants. 
  • Your application and all supporting materials MUST be submitted before 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 to be considered for an interview.

Interview Process

  • If all requirements are met, you may be asked to participate in at least two in-person interviews on February 17, 2024. Please reserve this day in your schedule for RA interviews.
  • You will be notified about hiring decisions via email prior to the opening of the room selection process. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time Marian University student
  • Must be in good academic and social standing at time of application and during employment
  • Must have cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.50 at time of application and throughout employment
  • Must attend one Resident Assistant Information Session and submit all pieces of the application
  • Must be available for the Interview Day and participate in all interviews
  • Must be available for the entire duration of all training sessions (training dates to be determined and posted at a later date)

Timeline:

  • October 31: Applications available on CORE 
  • January 31: Applications and supporting materials due before 5pm
  • February 17: New Resident Assistant interview day
  • March 1: Decision letters will be delivered via email
  • March 6: Acceptance or declination of hiring offer due
