Knight Pride: 2014 will be ‘Year of the Alumni’

by Katie Bradley | Dec 23, 2013

Marian University announced this week that it is declaring the 2014-2015 academic year as the “Year of the Alumni.” University staff members are in the process of planning several exciting events intended to bring alumni back to campus, including the dedication of Alumni Hall, the university’s new $10 million student center that is scheduled to open in August 2014.

“Our alumni are the pride and joy of Marian University and we want to make sure they know they are welcome back on campus,” President Daniel J. Elsener, said. “Our alumni uphold our identity, support our current students, and enrich our institution in an important and unique way. We want to celebrate their successes, and re-engage them so that they can help guide our direction into the future.”

Details about the yearlong celebration will be revealed closer to the July 1 kickoff. In the meantime, there are always exciting events happening on and off campus for the Marian University community. Check out our calendar of events and plan to attend a few of the many events we have planned.

“Your voice, your participation, and your leadership will catapult the Marian University of today into the future,” Nichole Ellis, director of alumni relations, wrote in a letter to alumni. “I want to challenge each of you to get excited about the growth, get excited about the transformation, and get excited about making Marian University—our mission and Franciscan values—a piece of your heart and a part of your family.”
