The Center for Organizational Ethics at Marian University began through a generous gift from OneAmerica Financial Partners in 2005. The gift honors Jerry and Rosemary Semler; Jerry Semler is former chief executive officer of OneAmerica and a member of the Marian University Board of Trustees.
The mission of the Center for Organizational Ethics at Marian University is to support the university’s mission to form its students in the Franciscan values of dignity of the individual, peace and justice, reconciliation, and responsible stewardship. To that end, the center promotes and coordinates the study and teaching of ethics across the curriculum and through co-curricular activities. The center’s mission also extends to the Indianapolis business community. Outreach to the business community consists of events targeted to businesses to promote ethical corporate cultures and to nurture the personal moral development of business leaders, managers, and employees.
- Support the study and teaching of ethics across the curriculum and through co-curricular activities.
- Promote moral reflection in personal and professional life on campus and in the Indianapolis business community.
- Establish the reputation of the center as a source for programming in development of moral character in the workplace.
